As we begin the celebrations to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, I want to offer my warmest congratulations to Her Majesty, whose 70 years of public service to our country and to the rest of the Commonwealth is truly an inspiration to us all.
The Queen remains not only the longest reigning and longest-lived British monarch, but also the last World War Two veteran head of state in the world. A truly remarkable feat.
Over the last seven decades, our country and the world have gone through immense social and political change, but Her Majesty has remained a constant in our lives throughout this period. Unwavering in her duty and commitment to our country and the Commonwealth. An inspiration to us all.
This week I visited Rivermere Care Home in Chipstead, where I met some of the residents to discuss their memories of the coronation. It was great to hear their stories and reflect on how they celebrated her first days on the throne.
I also met with Leo Street, who at age 13, has been selected to represents his Scout Group to light a Beacon for the Queen’s Jubilee.
It really is wonderful to see the Jubilee bringing together residents of all ages, and the decorations that have been popping up across the constituency can’t help but put a smile on your face.

God save the Queen.
