Laura Trott is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Sevenoaks & Swanley, having first been elected in 2019. She lives in the constituency with her husband and three children
Laura grew up just outside the constituency in Oxted. She went to Oxted School, and won a place to study economics at Oxford University - becoming the first in her family to go to university. After originally training as a management consultant, Laura served in Downing Street from 2011-2016 advising the then Prime Minister, latterly as Head of Strategic Communications. Laura was also as part of the policy team which wrote the 2015 manifesto, focusing on education and family policy. She was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of this service. Upon leaving Government she became a partner at a communications firm.
Laura served as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for Work and Pensions from October 2022 - November 2023. And, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, HM Treasury in November 2023. She is currently Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
