The measures announced in last week’s Budget provided a lifeline for our high streets, and following conversations with local small business owners I know how the Restart Grants in particular will be essential to help many reopen.
Today I asked the Chancellor to confirm when local authorities will be able to begin distributing these vital grants. Following his response, I was delighted to hear that guidance is expected later this week, so that distribution can begin at the start of April. This is the first time such information has been shared, and I am pleased that businesses will be getting this much needed support soon and can now plan around it.
