From today, victims of Domestic Abuse will be able to safely access vital support from thousands of pharmacies across the UK through a new codeword scheme, “Ask for Ani”. I thank Boots and all the independent pharmacies who have signed up. For more information visit: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/domestic-abuse-how-to-get-help
You will all be familiar with my focus on helping to prevent and support domestic violence. There is currently a brilliant operation which Kent Police runs with local schools called Operation Encompass, whereby police automatically inform schools when a domestic violence incident has occurred in the child’s home. Tragically, this has been absolutely vital locally in protecting and supporting our young people – and I think it is something all children should be supported by. So, today I asked the Home Office Minister to ensure it happens nationwide.
If you, or someone you know is affected by domestic violence, please remember that services across Sevenoaks and Swanley are up and running. Police are continuing to follow up on cases and reports, and there are spaces available for refuge in safe accommodation. Fleeing domestic violence is a stated reason you can leave your house, so there is a clear exemption from lockdown rules in this instance. The contact numbers for our local services can be found on my website: https://www.lauratrott.org.uk/.../lauras-work-tackle...
