I have received many emails from residents expressing their concerns about the proposed changes by Kent County Council which would mean the loss of Jackie the Community Warden who covers West Kingsdown and Fawkham, as well as New Ash Green, Hartley and Hodsoll, which are in the constituency of Tom Tugendhat.
I know how Jackie is loved in the area for all her hard work for the community, and have had the pleasure of meeting her at the The Community Cupboard where her help is invaluable. Jackie puts in so many hours supporting the community and has been a constant strength of support for residents. Her work includes conducting welfare checks for residents, helping elderly and housebound people with shopping and help reporting antisocial behaviour out of hours – and much more besides.
Tom and I have therefore written jointly to Kent County Council to express the concerns of both ourselves and local residents. I have also reached out to Sevenoaks District Council and local West Kingsdown and Fawkham district councillors. I do appreciate that Kent County Council have to make many difficult decisions, but I hope that working together as a community we can reach a solution.
