Village halls play a key role in our communities and since 1905 the Eynsford Village Hall has been just that. Sadly time has now caught up with the building, which is now facing time-limiting structural issues. However, the Village Hall Trust and Eynsford Parish Council have been working tremendously hard to raise the £2m needed for a new hall in nearby Harrow Meadow.
It was great to meet with volunteer Holly Ivaldi, project manager Alan Cooke and village hall trustee Jo Easter to hear about their brilliant plans, as well as discuss the problems they are facing with the new Government having put on hold the Community Ownership Fund - through which the Trustees were very hopeful of obtaining the final £250,000 needed to enable the works to commence.
Since my visit I have written to the Minister to urge that this fund be re-opened as soon as possible and will continue to do all I can to support the Trustees in their bid for funding.
