Like many of you, I have been incredibly frustrated driving around during the Easter school holidays with so many roadworks taking place.
I fully understand and support Kent County Council to ensure roadworks take place during the holidays when there is less traffic on the road. However, I am concerned this has meant too many have been taking place at once.
I have therefore written to Kent County Council to ask that they ensure they look at the cumulative impact of proposed works, and where possible space them out.
Of course, at times there are emergencies, and the gas leaks found in both London Road, Dunton Green and Bradbourne Road/St John’s Road Sevenoaks, have to be dealt with, in order to keep residents safe. However, I was extremely unhappy to hear that having closed the road at Dunton Green for works to commence at the end of last week – no works took place at the weekend. I have raised this with SGN, who accepted this was an error at their end and have offered their apologies – but this must not happen again.
The Dunton Green gas repair will be completed today. It will then take two days to repair the road and two days for the road to set, meaning it should reopen on Sunday 14 April.
Myself and local councillor Kim Bayley and Graham Clack have requested that signage be put in place, particularly whilst the road is setting. Otherwise, understandably, it would add to people’s frustration to see the road still closed when it appears ready to be open.
