Following conversations in recent weeks with the Leonard Cheshire care home at Chipstead Lake, I was made aware of the difficulties staff were experiencing in accessing COVID-19 testing kit.
Given their residents are typically under 65 years old and do not suffer with dementia, this means that under current guidance neither staff nor residents can access testing kits in the same as other care homes – unless symptomatic.
Today I raised this unique case with the Secretary of State and urged him to look into the issue urgently. I was delighted that he agreed and look forward to hearing the Government response.
