Laura Trott, MP for Sevenoaks and Swanley, has today voiced her delight that the Meeting Point project in Swanley, run by Sevenoaks District Council, has successful secured £1.49 million from Government to aid the long-term economic recovery of the town.
The project is one of 34 across the South East which will receive funding from the Government’s new Getting Building Fund. The Fund was created in June 2020 to invest in local infrastructure projects that drive economic growth, create new jobs and support a green recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
The site in Swanley will see the creation over the next 18 months of a modern business work hub and 17 new homes in the town centre.
Commenting on the announcement, Laura Trott, MP for Sevenoaks and Swanley, said:
“I am delighted to see further investment in Swanley. Meeting Point is an exemplar scheme and will make a real difference for both those living and working locally.
”I would particularly like to thank the team at Sevenoaks District Council for all their work in securing the funding. The Council have continually shown their commitment to investing in Swanley, and this project is further evidence of that. The bid would not have been as successful without their continued hard work and commitment.”
Cllr Peter Fleming, Leader of Sevenoaks District Council, said
“This funding is hugely welcomed and secures our £4 million investment in what is a very exciting scheme for Swanley.
“The Meeting Point project is one of a number of regeneration projects that Sevenoaks District Council is planning which will see tens of millions of pounds worth of investment coming into the town.”

“As we get Britain building, we are also laying the foundations for a green economic recovery by investing in vital infrastructure for local communities, creating jobs and building environmentally friendly homes with a huge £1.3 billion investment announced today.
