Sevenoaks MP Laura Trott MBE has “cut the ribbon” yesterday (17/08) to officially open the brand-new Station Road Post Office located at Sans Express Ltd, 2 Station Parade, London Road, Sevenoaks, TN13 1DL.
The new branch is part of an exciting modernisation and investment programme taking place across the Post Office network.
Postmaster Roopan Pararajasingam already runs the retail shop, along with his wife, Saruja Tharmaroopan, and three members of staff. His family also run Post Offices and Roopan thought a Post Office would be a good addition to the shop.
Laura Trott MBE, MP for Sevenoaks, said: “This is very good news for the Sevenoaks community, and it’s been a pleasure to join in today’s celebrations for the official opening. The new Post Office is not only close to Sevenoaks train station, which is very convenient for commuters, but will also make a huge different to those living and working locally. A massive thank you to Postmaster Roopan Pararajasingam for opening this branch and I wish him and his team the best of luck.”
Postmaster Roopan Pararajasingam said: “We are excited to be able to offer Post Office products and services. There used to be a Post Office here, so we are glad its back, and so are our customers. It will make it more convenient for our customers, especially as we are so near the station. We are happy our community is excited for the addition of the Post Office".
The new Post Office services is available six days a week, on Monday – Friday: 8am – 5.30pm, and Saturday: 8am – 1pm. This offers customers 52 hours of Post Office service a week, making it very convenient for customers to visit.
Station Parade Post Office offers customers a wide range of Post Office services, from posting letters and parcels to collecting and returning online shopping items. Customers will also be able to take advantage of a wide range of banking services including cash withdrawals and balance enquiries for customers of all the main UK banks.
The new branch aims to offer even more convenience to Post Office customers by extending the availability of Post Offices services in the area. The new branch joins branches at Sevenoaks, St Johns Hill and Otford bringing vital services to the area.
Emily Dobson, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, withdraw cash from their bank accounts, and send and collect their mail at a time and place that suits them best. We know how important our services are to customers, and are confident that this brand new Post Office alongside the other branches in the area at Sevenoaks, St Johns Hill and Otford will ensure that people in this area of Sevenoaks have easy access to our services.”
Post Office services are offered from a low-screened, open-plan Post Office counter that is integrated into the retail counter, enabling customers to carry out a wide range of Post Office transactions alongside retail purchases.
