One of the key pillars on my plan for Sevenoaks is champion local healthcare provisions – this means protect the services we have, and where possible and needed, improve them.
Earlier this year we secured £2.5 million for Darent Valley Hospital, which means they can create additional beds across three wards, ahead of the winter. And last week, The Department for Health and Social Care approved a new Community Diagnostic Centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital, in Sidcup. This centre along with the new facility at Livingstone Community Hospital in Dartford which will also be opening a new community diagnostic centre (CDC) will increase diagnostic capacity locally and reduce waiting times for residents within the Sevenoaks constituency, with state-of-the art equipment to deliver CT, MRI, X-ray and phlebotomy tests and scans.
However, at the heart of our health service locally, is GP surgeries.
Over 18 months has passed since the last Covid restrictions were lifted and our GPs are doing a huge amount of work. But I want to hear your experiences of how this is translating for you and your family in terms of appointments.
Providing feedback, both good and bad, plays an essential role in helping to share good practice and celebrating excellence, as well as improving services which are not meeting your needs to other of others in your care. And that is why today I am launched my GP Survey.
This is a chance for you to be heard, and I will be sharing the results with the patient engagement representatives and GP’s surgeries for each surgery so that where needed changes can be made and feedback where thing are going well.
The survey will be open until 7th December, so please do share your experiences, and encourage your friends and families to do the same. It can be completed online at https://www.lauratrott.org.uk/have-your-say, and if there is anything you wish to share, which isn’t covered, please do email me at [email protected].
It is important to me that services in this area are as good as they can be, and by working together we can do this.
