I have been closely following the situation with universities over the last week, and I know many of you have been in touch with me regarding your concerns.
While I welcomed today’s commitment from the Education Secretary that face to face learning will be encouraged where possible, there will still be some students who are paying full fees for what in some cases will be solely online courses.
Financial pain must be shared with universities which is why I asked the Secretary of State to speak with the Office for Students and strongly advise that unless fees are lowered, Vice-Chancellor bonuses should not be paid out.
