In July 2021 Sadiq Khan said, “I have no plans to extend the ULEZ to outer London.” He continued, “Air quality on the remaining roads will be more effectively addressed through targeted, local measures.”
However, today this disastrous policy comes into force.
He’s ignored objections. Disregarded TfL’s own estimates regarding the impact. And is now making our most vulnerable pay £12.50 a day or buy a new car to cross the Kent/ London border.
This isn’t about air quality. It's a cash grab for his incompetence.
Media reports over the weekend have also found that the Labour Party are exploring shocking road pricing plans that will hammer households and devastate businesses.
This is Labour. Sadiq Khan and Keir Starmer cannot be trusted.
As things stand, the Government does not have the legal power to stop the ULEZ expansion. But, I am pleased that the Secretary of State for Transport has announced plans to ensure future such schemes can’t be introduced while ignoring local councillors. This is vital.
I continue to work with your local Conservative councillors to oppose the policy.
