It was brilliant to visit Shoreham Village Primary School and surprise Eliana, the Sevenoaks and Swanley winner of the Litter Angels poster competition and present her prizes - which included a mug with her poster on it, a Litter Angels Book and £50. I also presented the school with £100.
Litter Angels, a charity set up in 2008 by my fellow Kent MP Gordon Henderson MP and does fantastic work in encouraging young people to understand about the antisocial nature of litter.
Each year children across Kent enter a poster competition to deter people from littering and this is the first year primary school pupils from across Sevenoaks and Swanley have taken part. I hope next year even more schools will enter, as this really is a great way for children to have fun whilst protecting our local environment.
Congratulations again to Eliana.
