Since being elected in 2019, I have been clear on my views that it must be protected; and that any planning applications on #GreenBelt land, that do not have community consent, should be rejected.
Sadly the changes Labour are planning to introduce, will mean an increase to our local housing target of nearly 60%, and looking to force our council to build on the Green Belt in order to meet the new proposed target.
At the end of last month I met with officers of Sevenoaks District Council, along with council leader Roddy Hogarth, Julia Thornton the Cabinet Member responsible for Planning and fellow Cabinet Member Michael Horwood, to discuss the proposals and what they mean for our district.
I will be working with local councillors, as well as colleagues in Parliament, to do all I can to argue against the changes, and fight tooth and nail to prevent our much loved Green Belt land being built on.
The consultation runs until 24 September, and I would urge you to all have your say: https://www.gov.uk/.../proposed-reforms-to-the-national...
