You will all know the work I do on women’s safety, and there have been a number of horrific incidents within the Met Police related to women.
Yesterday it was announced that the Met Police have been placed in special measures, so I asked the Minister to ensure that there will be a plan to tackle systemic sexism in the Met Police, and that the new Commissioner will prioritise tackling violence against women and girls.
I am exceptionally grateful for the emphasis that our PCC @matthewinkent and leadership in @kentpoliceuk have put on tackling violence against women. It is vital to make sure this focus is in place across the country, so women feel safe wherever they are.
