I was delighted to hear over the weekend that Sevenoaks District Council has been awarded £1,215,000 from the Brownfield Land Release Fund. The funding from Government will allow SDC to release council-owned brownfield land for housing, by transforming redundant industrial sites, disused car parks and derelict buildings into new places for people to live – and therefore protecting the Green Belt for being developed.
I was particularly pleased to hear that of this sum, £840,000 was awarded for Swanley White Oaks Residential, where much needed housing will be built.
