I am delighted to announce that our final Community Hero is Claire Ritchie, from the Lockdown Larder Sevenoaks project.
Claire decided to set up Lockdown Larder, after seeing there was a need in our community to support those whose income had vanished as a result of the lockdown, and were struggling to feed themselves and their families.
Within a week, she had secured funding from Sevenoaks Town Council and set up a gofundme page which has raised nearly £7,800 in donations. Following the support of local supermarkets and businesses, the scheme has already received over 375 applications and supported over 80 families – a staggering achievement and testament to the generosity across our community, especially given the initiative is only eight weeks old!
Claire has been an outstanding and dedicated volunteer since day one and we are lucky to have her energy in our community. I spoke to her this morning to thank her for everything she has, and continues to do. Her story will also be covered in print as part of our Community Heroes partnership with the Sevenoaks Chronicle - so do please pick up a copy on Thursday to find out more.
Congratulations Claire – a true community hero who has made a huge difference to the lives of so many.
