The coronation of a new monarch is always a momentous occasion, and this one was for the ages. I was drawn from a ballot for tickets and was incredibly honoured to represent our community in Westminster Abbey – the location for coronations since 1066.
We were all asked to arrive very early and there was a lively atmosphere from the very start, with everyone chatting, sharing stories, and revelling in the excitement of what was to come.
I know many of you were gripped to your TVs to watch the service and will have your own favourite moments, but what I was struck by was the sense of modernity and inclusivity that was deeply woven into the service - no doubt at the request of a King. It was a wonderful day.
On Sunday, I also had a pleasure of joining the Sevenoaks Town Council Big Afternoon Tea Celebration on Sevenoaks High Street.
It was so brilliant to see how many people had turned out to mark the occasion within our community, and I was so impressed with the on-street entertainment, stalls, music, arts & crafts. My kids made some pretty impressive crowns!
It was a fabulous day which my family and I thoroughly enjoyed. And a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the organisation. It was a fitting tribute to such a historic occasion.
God Save The King.
