We are lucky to have many excellent local businesses here in Sevenoaks, and last week I had the pleasure of opening the Sevenoaks Business Show at the Bat & Ball Community Centre. This wonderful event, hosted by the Sevenoaks Town Team, provided an opportunity for local businesses and charities to showcase their work and projects.
I spent an enjoyable time speaking to the many varied exhibitors including, representatives of the Federation of Small Business; Maxine Morgan of Specsavers in Sevenoaks; and representatives of In Line International, a multi-faceted company which moved to Sevenoaks from London in 2020. It was also great to speak to the Co-founder Officer, Tom Simmonds, of Gretel, which through its software helps people find some of the £50b in lost funds such as pensions, shares, bank accounts and investments. I have a lot of dealings with Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees, and it was good to see them at the show and get an update on their work. I am so thankful for the fantastic work they do, particularly with Syrian and Ukrainian refugees. The Samaritans have not had an office in Sevenoaks for long, but already they are an important part of our charity community and having previously visited their offices it was good to catch up with them again. My thanks go to the Sevenoaks Town Team for organising this fantastic, annual event.
I am hugely supportive of our local business community and always eager to listen to and advocate for them. I will continue to ensure the voice of Sevenoaks businesses are heard in Westminster and if there are any businesses who would like to talk to me, please do get in touch at [email protected].
